7 ways to make money online:

1.  Sell your old household items such as clothing, CDs and toys on ebay.

2.  Start a blog on a niche topic that your knowlegable in, generate fantastic content, rank on the search engines and display ads on your site.  You will make money from ad revenue.

3.  Setup an ecommerce website and sell your own products on the site.

4.  Sell affiliate products, such as e-books, or study at home finance course such as Wealth masters international.

5.  Setup your blog with valuable content and allow your readers to make donations via the PayPal donation option. This has also been called “Buy me a Beer” or “Buy me a coffee” and has seen a positive response on another site of mine as well as many other bloggers.

6.  Through your website offer your services to people looking for something that you specialise in.  This could be anything from making wedding invitations, to designing a website.  As a freelancer, you can make a considerable income and enjoy the benefits of working from home.

7.  Become an author for other blogs.  Some of the larger sites, such as lifehacker.com have only grown that big because they have several people offering content on a very regular basis.  As a regular author you will receive an agreed upon dollar amount per post or by hits, depending on the agreement. This can be a great way to make money online, and you don’t have the worry of creating your own site and managing that.  Of course you do need to offer really great content and do this on a regular basis.

So there it is, 7 ways to make money online.  Now I don’t expect you to go and do each option as that would be too much diversification, well at least starting out!  Maybe one or two stand out to you and you feel it is something up your alley way.  There are plenty of other ways to make money online and I’d love to hear from you in the comments area if you have a particular tip that isn’t mentioned and has worked well for you.

What to do with the money that you make online!

By matt On January 28, 2009 No Comments

Once you build up your internet business you will need to know what to do with all of the money that you have made online!  Here are 5 simple yet effective ideas that you can use to manage your money better and make sure that it continues to come in from your online income streams.

Lets assume that your earning an extra $100 a week to start off with.

1.  Pay off all of your debts.

With an extra $100 a week, I would put that towards any high interest credit card debt.  As that gets paid off you will pay much less interest and its enough to see some noticable differences over a couple of months.  Aim to get any other debt paid off as well if you get your credit card cleared.

2.  Save all of your money into a high interest cash account.

A $100 dollars per week really isn’t enough to live off, however if you can diligently put $100 away into a high interest bank account, such as those offered by ING, then you save away $5200 over 12 months.  This doesn’t include interest.  This could be a great little emergency fund for that day when your car needs urgent repairs, or use it for something that is rewarding such as a holiday away.

3.  Invest it back into your website.

This may seem a bit counterintuitive, however if you are low on debts and you already have some savings, you could look at using it invest back into your website.  Maybe you could get a custom designed website, or improve your hosting.  If you have products to sell, now could be the time to start advertising on Google if you aren’t already.  This is great so you can continue to make even more money online!

You may also want to hire another blogger for your site, or start a new site.  Get more content on there and more relevance to search engine results for your niche.

4.  Relax and enjoy your earnings.

Depending on your financial needs, you may be able to splurge a little bit.  Chances are you have worked hard to get your site to $100 a week.  Good on you. Now you can relax a bit and enjoy it. So treat yourself a little.  Don’t go overboard and remember why you wanted to earn that extra money in the first place.  If it was to pay off debt, then refer to step 1!

5.  Invest it into a product that you can sell.

This one won’t be for everyone, but perhaps you have a product idea that you want to invest in.  Save up your money and use this to get a prototype built, or do some market research to find if it will be profitable.  There are plenty of ways to make money online, and some of the best are around selling your own products.  There are several companies which you can outsource the design and development to if you don’t have the expertise.  Just make sure they can’t steal your idea!

Obviously if your earning more per week/month then you have more options you can use it for.

For instance, if your earning $500 a week, then you could almost start to think about doing the blogging option full time.  Or you could use it to seriously make a dent in your house mortgage.  Especially at the moment, when interest rates are lower across the globe, the more principal you can pay off your mortgage the better off you will be down the track when the economy begins to stablise.

If your business online is making a significant amount of money each week then I would also recommend you seek independant tax advice from your accountant, as depending on where you live your tax obligations will vary.  If you are earning $500 a week however, be encouraged, because with a it of tweaking, you are well on your way to turning that $2000 per month website into a $10,000 per month cash cow!  I would start to look at getting your website fully customised if it isn’t already, you could even start to sell advertising spaces for a decent monthly fee and outsource a few extra authors to start on other popular blog topics or help you add more content to your own site.

Once you are earning $1000+ a week, then it really is up to you.  For me, personally, when I got to this stage, I worked on my site alongside my normal job for 2 months to ensure the income would continue before quitting to work from home.  This worked well for me because I knew that I needed to continue to make money online in order to be financially secure. The two months gave me enough time to tweak it and ensure that the income payments continued to increase.  Its also a good idea to diversify and have a few sites setup, incase one has a drop in traffic for instance.

Suggestions like paying off debt are even easier when your earning more money online.  If you get this side of life covered off reasonably easy then your options for your money are enourmous, anything from helping family members out, investing in new or existing companies, putting money away for the future, supporting charity organisations and having a bit of fun in the process, such as a new car or overseas holidays.  Making money online really can be a life changing experience, so its certainly worthwhile investing the time and energy into making it work for you!

Make Money Online from Blogging

By matt On January 27, 2009 No Comments

Blogging is one of the best ways to make money online today.  A blogging website is simply one that allows you, the author to share your opinion on any topic you want, and allow your readers to comment on it if you so wish.  Take my site, www.make-money-online-guaranteed.com.  This is a blog.  This is also a blog that makes money online!

There are different types of blogs.  There are those that are purely aimed at social writing.  These ones can be great, however they tend not to make as much money as the blogs that are more focused on search engine rankings, and where you are selling a product.  If you seriously want to make money online, and not just a small amount, then you need to write your blog so that it has useful content on it, but more importantly that it directs the reader to buy a product.  A lot of people believe that you will only make money if you have a loyal subscriber list. While this certainly is great, and you need to provide valuable content, the truth is that selling products is where the real and big money is at.  Unless of course your driving hundreds of thousands of people to your site each month can you make a large amount of money from advertising, but in this case I would advice to sell your or affiliate products even more, as you have such a large audience to offer your product to.  You then get the best of both worlds.  Selling your product and also offering Google adsense ads to give you a secondary income stream!

Its important not to write your blog as a long sales letter.  No one wants to read that.  Offer content that is useful and valuable.  If people actually like your writings, then they will be more likely to look into the products that your recommending as well.  I only ever as a matter of principal recommend products that I have tried and tested.  You should do the same thing.  Reputation is big on the internet.  If your offering a bad product, then word will spread around sooner than you can open another bottle of chi3!

The final step of course is to make sure you have a great ranking with the search engines.  This takes time to build up, but the more content that is relevant to your site, the more back links you have and the length of time your site has been up will all contribute to your sites popularity in the search engines.  Get all of these right and it really is possible to make money online!

How to Build a Successful Online Business

By matt On January 26, 2009 No Comments

It is truly a great feeling running your own online business. I love the freedom that I have to work from where I want to. Usually this is home, but it can be the coffee shop as I sip a latte and write on my laptop, or even while traveling around the country and also overseas.  It is great being able to set my own hours, work on those tasks that I want to and also enjoy the ability to make money online.

I started using the internet about 3 years ago to create income and as soon as I even think about income generating the internet is where my mind jumps to. Now, as you sit and read this, I need to immediately jump to that question in your head, ‘Is he really making any money online?”. Well, the truth is, initially I didn’t. I first got into the internet as a source of income 3 years ago as I said, and it was a real struggle to start generating that income that I desired. I was investigating every single way to make money, but no matter what I did, I never seemed to bring in more than a few hundred dollars a month. Now while this was better than nothing, with all of the hours I was investing into this new online business venture it was not enough to support a full time income and family.

Now, lets jump to today. The journey has been a very interesting experience. I have been able to learn a lot about myself. I have always called myself an entrepreneur. Right from the days of being 5 years old, I was selling my sweets to passers by outside my house for a profit. (Granted, these were my neighbors who were retired and thought I was more cute than them getting a good deal). The thing about the internet that I quickly learnt was that you can’t just jump in and expect to make money. Why? Well, there are so many people trying to do the same thing.

I quickly discovered that in order to be successful on the web, I would need to come up with my own niche and do things that other people weren’t doing yet. This of course is the difference between the types of entrepreneurs who come up with the ideas, and those that follow what others have done. I stopped copying everyone else and started coming up with my own strategies. And this is what you need to do if you want to be successful with an online business. You need to be different. Chances are there are already 1000 websites doing what you are doing, but if you can be different and offer some real value, then you will start to achieve and your goals for income generation will be on their way to fruition.

With any business comes responsibility and hard work. Whether it is a bricks and mortar business, or an online business, you need to work hard at it to be successful. With an online business you have a much lower entry level cost to startup. All you really need to do is pay for some hosting and domain charges and perhaps a website designer if you are prepared to fork out a bit of cash. Because it is such a lower cost to get started, you need to be even better than the rest. A bricks and mortar business will pay for a premises (rental or purchase), staff costs, inventory, equipment, advertising, utilities, etc etc. BUT, if it is run properly, and like a proper business, it can achieve great things and generate a real income to the owner. The key word here is that it needs to be run properly, like a business. This needs to also be applied to the world of online businesses. In order for your blog or website to be successful, you need to run it like a business. You need to manage your site, your posts, or orders and ensure that things are happening. Like a business, you will monitor your success and make tweaks here and there. The same applies for your online business.

There are however great differences between the online and the ‘real’ world. For instance, in the online world, if you make mistakes along the way thing usually can be fixed, or you just drop the idea and move on. In the real world, if you start a business you can potentially lose a lot of money if it fails. Whereas if your online business fails you probably lost a couple hundred dollars and a few weeks of work. I’m not saying that you can’t lose online, but the risk to you financially is greatly reduced. This of course does not take into account all types of online businesses, such as those that sell real products or services. Of whom, you may have larger startup costs such as website design, legal contracts and agreements and some physical space to store your inventory such as a warehouse.

The best thing about an online business is that you can start small and get bigger when you are ready. For instance, I started as a small timer, with my own personal blog and a few Adsense ads on it. I was doing this part time when I had a few minutes free from my full time job as an accountant. Over time, I have spent more time on my online businesses and have branched out into different marketing strategies and opportunities. This has resulted in a much more substantial income with much less hours involved per week than my previous employment as an accountant.

this income of course can only come through one thing, and that is traffic generation. Without people visiting my sites and purchasing my products and services, there is no way I would get exposure and make the income that I am today enjoying. This was my largest hurdle that I had to jump to take my online income from a small amount each month, to a 5 figure monthly income. The best way to reach your audience and generate traffic is through valuable content, and this was explained in an earlier post.

Remember, no matter how hard it may seem, don’t give up. I could have easily given up when I started. It took me 5 months to make any money online at all, and that was a hard part of my life. I was learning a lot about business, about the internet and about myself. But I stuck with it and I have no regrets. Most people will fail, and I see it all the time. The enthusiasm is so high when they start. The chance of getting ahead in life, of making some extra money to allow them to get out of debt, or pay for a new car, or holiday. They see the end result, but don’t really think about the in between bit. They don’t map our their plan to reach their destination, so their journey is full of trouble, wrong turns and dead ends.

At the end of the day. You can do it if you have the right motivation, commitment and eagerness to learn something new. If you aren’t internet savy, then I would recommend that you get some professional help, or do some research. It is so important to make sure you are following the correct process from the start, as a technical problem could cause a larger problem down the track, such as reducing your possible traffic, simply because of the structure of your website design and backend coding. While things may take awhile to get going, if you have a great site, fantastic content and a strategy for traffic, success and realistic targets don’t let anything get in your way of achieving success as you build a successful online business and ultimatily make money online.

Generate traffic to your site and make money online

By matt On January 25, 2009 No Comments

If you want to succeed in any online endeavor, especially an e-commerce type website, or blog, you need to generate a high amount of traffic to your website on a regular basis. This traffic also needs to be free, otherwise you will go broke very quickly in paying for advertising and you will never make money online. So the question is how can I generate traffic to my website. Below I will try to provide some guidance to achieve this.

I have 5 of my best tips for generating traffic to your website.

1. Content

The main reason that people will look at your website is to read what you have to say. Content is crucial. If you don’t have valuable or meaningful content then you’re site will suffer and no matter what you do, your levels of traffic will always be low.

You need to make sure that what you are writing and providing on your site can be useful to your readers. Ask yourself, if I was a reader, would I want to read this? Would I find this information useful?

It is always a good idea to actually stop and think about what you are writing on your site before you publish it. Remember it will be potentially going to millions of people. Do you want those people to waste their time on your site, or to actually go away with something useful. If you can provide useful information then there is a greater chance that these same people will want to return to your website as well. This is important, as if you have loyal readers then half of the work is done.

With valuable content on your site, your readers will appreciate you more and will notice the effort you put into your posts and articles. This will also lead them to referring others to your site so that you will become a talking point away from the computer.

There are people that go for quantity rather than quality when it comes to posting on blogs and websites. This is often a myth that the more content you have the more traffic you will generate. The flaw is that even if you have a great amount of posts and articles, unless they are meaningful and useful, even the search engines will over look them. It would be better to write one article a week that is excellent content than writing a short one each day that is really only a filler for you site.

In conclusion to tip number 1, remember that if you have nothing worth saying and that will provide a genuine value to others then you probably shouldn’t bother posting it. I would encourage you to concentrate on writing the best content you can each time you sit down to write your next post. Re-read it and make sure that you are proud to post it on your site. Remember, Content, Content, Content!

2. Original Content.

People are looking for something that is new and the latest information. It is important to remember this when you write and post on your site. The whole purpose of creating a high traffic website is to reach out to the masses. If you are merely linking to other sites or other articles then you will never achieve your goals for traffic as there is nothing new there. Especially if 100s of people have already said exactly the same thing before you. Keep it new and original.

You need to speak from your own experiences and opinion. If people like what you say, then it is most likely that they will read some of your other posts. The longer people stay on your site, the more likely they will be repeat visitors. When they know that you are speaking from your own experiences and enjoy it, they will want to read your other work. This is where your high traffic plan works as the more people that come back to your site, the higher your traffic will be each month.

Original content will also rank much better in search engines over the long term as it will always appeal to people as it is unique and stands out. You want to create content that will stand the test of time, which leads us onto the 3rd tip.

3. Everlasting Content.

Why should you post content that will only be valid for the next week, or month or year. You really want information on your site that will be useful for many years to come. A lot of successful bloggers comment that often the articles that generate the most traffic are those in their archives that they wrote 2 years ago. The longer the content is on the internet the better it is linked to and ranked in Google etc, but in conjunction with the above 2 points, if it is valuable and original, it will be useful for many years to come.

It can be hard to generate high amounts of traffic early on, sometimes it may take a few months or more to build up your subscribers list and rankings in search engines, but if you plan on leaving that information up on the web, then who knows how many people will read it over the years to follow.

These tips of course are timeless, as they will always apply and be relevant to generating traffic. While other methods come and go as the search algorithms and other technologies change, as long as you are providing something useful, people will want to read it.

This principle can also be applied to online and offline businesses. If you want to have a successful brand, shop, product etc, then you can’t just plan for something to be appealing for a short time. You want people to buy it for years to come. Think of the likes of Coca-Cola. How often do they change the flavour? It is consistent and will be around forever, because the original plan was to create a product that would stand the test of time. You should also try to do this with your online website or business.

4. How to structure your writing for traffic.

As mentioned above in the previous tip, if you create everlasting content then you will do much better with traffic, the same applies to how you structure your writing. Many people say that there are methods to how you add your titles, keywords etc in your article. In some ways this is correct, with the correct placement you will generate traffic from the search engines that pick you up. However this is not always the best approach. The reason is that computers are not the only ones reading you posts. Humans are. Humans are your target audience and as such, you should write for them. The search engines will still pick you up, so write how you believe your readers want to see your work.

If you structure your writing for real people, then they will in turn generate the traffic for you as they link to your articles from their own blogs, or they might add your post to a social bookmarking site or email your post to a friend.

This approach is also important as over the years that I have been writing for various blogs, I have to keep changing how I structure the posts as they have always been with the approach that Google needs to be able to pick it up. Technology changes so fast that if your posts are written for today’s methods then how accessible will they be when tomorrow’s methods are in place?

Ultimately, if you provide valuable content, then the traffic will come to you.

5. Define your goals for a high-traffic web site and know why you want traffic.

Before you start with your traffic generation strategies, it is important to know whey you want traffic to your site. Why should people read your site? Do you want traffic to sell your product, or to simply help people with your content. Maybe you want high traffic so that you can generate some income off your Google Adsense ads.

In some cases you need high traffic in order to sell your product. As you know, I am involved in Carbon Copy Pro marketing system. The success of this system and investment is the ability to generate a large amount of traffic. If I don’t follow the above steps, then how can I actually generate an income from that site?

So my goal is to build a high traffic website that will rank in search engines, will provide people with genuine content, so even if they don’t choose to purchase my product, at least I was able to provide them with something of real value and they can go away with that. I want to generate the high traffic so that I can earn the income that I need to live the lifestyle I desire.

To be honest with you, if you are planning on making money from your blog, then unless you have traffic then you will never succeed. This is because most methods of income generation online relate to traffic. Whether it be ads, or selling a product, without people reading it and seeing it, it is near to impossible to make any real money.

At the end of the day, I’m happy as long as people are finding what I write useful and they can get some benefit out of it. Everyone wants their work to be read and enjoyed, otherwise this article will just sit on some computer in a data centre with no reason for its existence.
