How to quit your job and make money online!
Now, before I begin I must start with saying that this post isn’t for everyone. There are a lot of people that love having a job. They enjoy the fact that they go to work, they do their time, get paid and then leave at the end of the day. If that is you, then that is fine, but what I’m about to say is quit your job and never work for someone else again. Now is the time to make money online! Lets get into it!
I worked for a number of years for a large accounting and finance company. This was a great experience but I knew it wasn’t for me for the long term and I was getting burnt out. Like most salaried jobs, even with over time you don’t get paid extra, but as it was a large company, overtime was expected and demanded from you. While I was young I could sustain this but after starting a family I didn’t want my work to control me, so I started to look around for other alternatives, hence writing this blog.
The main issue that I had with working for other people is that, regardless of how much I worked I still got paid the same amount. I also realised that if i did not work then I didn’t get paid. This is something that people struggle to understand sometimes. Why would one expect to get paid when they aren’t working? Isn’t that basically demanding income for no work? I could see that i had a problem. I wanted to continue to ‘work’ while I was at home relaxing. I wanted to continue earning an income while I was sleeping. I saw my bosses. They would come in late, have long lunches and then take extra weeks of vacation. I knew that every extra hour of work I put in, they could take off, and they were still getting paid for not being at work.
Some would argue that they might deserve this, that they have worked their way up the corporate ladder, and can now enjoy the fruits of their labor. I totally agree. The difference is, I didn’t want to wait another 20 years to receive the same benefit. The benefit of income while not being at work.
When I studied at university, I took some personal financial management classes and it was obvious that to have financial freedom you had to establish a passive income. A system that would continue to provide an income on an ongoing basis. This is typically done through financial instrument structures such as shares, managed funds or rental properties.
So with this experience, I knew that to achieve my personal goals of financial freedom and live the life that I wanted to, I would need to setup systems that generate income 24 hours of the day, 365 days of the year. These systems can be anything from creating a product that you sell on the web, to a creative work that earns you royalties from each sale. The key is that the system needs to provide value to people and generate an income for you.
Remember, this step is not for the faint hearted. It does take some initial investment in time and some finances. You need to define your income generating system, design it and then implement. The main thing is that you don’t need to reinvent the wheel, you can use systems that are already working and simply modify them to your own needs. Also there are plenty of products that you can sell for others, including affiliate programs. Just remember, that after you get going, it is easy to maintain and soon you will be working much less hours than you ever did.
Of course, you could just ignore all of this, and keep working those long hours, especially if you enjoy it. Feel free to continue. I would however rather have a few extra days a week to pursue my other interests such as spending time with family, traveling, extra study purely for interest sake, photography and volunteer programs in my community. I was soon earning a few hundred dollars a month and that has simply continued to grow as my systems have become more established and I continue to add content. If you can earn $10 a month, you can easily take that up to $1000 a month, then $5000 a month. It may take 2 years, but once its in place, you can expect to earn a steady income for the future.
Another thing that I hated about working for someone was that I could not easily negotiate an increase in my salary. Why should I have to wait 12 months before my next pay rise? I know the business is doing extra well, why I can’t get the benefit now? Well, when you work for yourself, you basically contribute directly to how much of an increase you have. When you work for yourself, you control how much you want to get paid. At the end of the day you need to do what is right, but having experienced the freedom of working for myself I wouldn’t want to go back.
I’m now enjoying working from home, sharing my experience, knowledge and expertise and enjoying a large income via my make money online principles, processes and websites. If I can do it, so can you!
Don’t wait, start your own internet based income producing site now!
Now is the best time to act and create an internet based business. With massive job cuts across the globe, more people than ever are wondering how they will be able to pay their bills and enjoy the lifestyle that they have been used to. Even people who are highly educated, hard working and driven will find it difficult to produce income in today’s economic climate. So many people are used to just working their one job, which has provided their basic needs. But even this normal part of life is threatened.
In order to rise above the rest, it is crucial that you are able to change yourself, to think outside the square and look into other opportunities that will give you financial freedom. There are countless ways that the internet has given that opportunity to people to change their financial outlook. Never before has the ability to make money online been so important.
So what are some ways that you can make money online? Here are a few of my favourites.
1. Providing valuable content through blogs, that drive traffic, and in turn generate an income by displaying Ads.
2. Selling affiliate products through network marketing companies.
3. Selling my own products such as information books and useful tools.
4. Consulting services to people starting out. This includes designing and building websites and advice on starting a blog.
5. Product reviews and providing an affiliate link to purchase the product, an example is through Amazon.com
How to make money online from blogging (Part 1)
Before we begin, it is probably a good idea to cover briefly the concept of blogging and blogs. For some of you, this will be obvious and well known, but there are still many people that are unclear exactly what a blog is. And while it could be possible to easily fill hundreds of pages in a book on the topic of making money from blogging, I will try to offer you a more concise background here in this article.
A blog could be described as a certain type of website. This type of website comes down to the functionality. It is essentially a site that allows a user or users to add short to long posts, on any topic, in various forms such as text, images and video and allows for readers to comment on the post.
Blogs can be used by anyone from the local college student, keeping an online diary of his fitness program, to a finance company that allows for their top executives to write formal articles about market conditions, investment opportunities or how they went at golf on the weekend.
Traditionally these days, when people think of blogs, they think of a way to make money online. This is because there are many bloggers out there now that are writing regularly about a topic they are both an expert in and enjoy, and in return for high volumes of traffic and visitors enjoy revenue from such avenues as Google who pay them to display ads on their website.
The other good thing about blogs is that they don’t always need to be viewed as a website. Many people these days subscribe to blogs and read them on their personal mobile devices, or in an email platform, where everytime the author posts a new article, an email is delivered to the reader. They can either decide to read the article, or they delete it.
There are of course many blogs that don’t make any money at all, and nor are they set up to make money. This is where it helps if you can define your purpose and goals for a blog before you start it. We will go into detail more on this later. For now, the important thing is that you understand that a blog is a website that allows you to interact with your audience in several ways, regularly or infrequent and is usually easy to maintain, such that you don’t need prior technical knowledge to manage. When you want to add a new post this is straight forward and software installed on your hosting server takes care of all of the background processes. Some websites such as blogger.com don’t even require you to pay for hosting so it is an area that has exploded to cater for everyone’s needs.
So the question, of How to make money online from blogging is a very broad question. Before you can even begin to look at money you need to decide what you will write about. Your content is key here. If you have poor content that no one will read, then chances are very slim you will ever make a cent from blogging. The only way you can make money online is to have traffic coming to your blog, to your website. So lets look at content to begin.
“Content is King” is true when it comes to blogging. You need to look at content as your ‘product’. If you have a great product then people will want to use it. They will even pay money for it, if its something that they want and can’t find else where. Without content it is impossible to make money online from blogs.
The important thing to remember when deciding what you will write about, where you will focus your energy, is trying to decide what will be popular from a traffic and search engine point of view. What do people want? Do you want to please the masses with very generic articles, or do you want to write for a specific group of people who only them will ever see your articles, but when they do you will offer tremendous value. I can tell you now that if you decide to write on teenage boys and knitting, then chances are your audience may be too small to generate much traffic and ultimately, much income. So you need to keep a balance. Try to write about something your passionate about and know a lot about, but also something that will appeal to a good size group of people.
So once you have decided on your topic for content, you need to set up a blog. I won’t go into this here, but basically you can get a free blog from blogger.com or wordpress.org. Wordpress is a very common platform and is very easy to use. If your serious about your decision to make money online long term, then you may be better off getting a hosting account and registering your own domain name. This way that you can build your traffic, links and readership to a site that is going to be around, instead of setting everything up on a free account, then having to transfer it across to your own domain. If you don’t have a budget for it, then go with the free options to start, as this at least will allow you to test the waters and see if you both enjoy writing and what the interest for your subject is like.
In the first few months of your blog being up and running, it is critical that you post some very valuable content. Get it up there, information that is going to be useful to people. You need to establish yourself as an expert on your topic and start to get subscribers to your blog. Ask them if they like it and what they want to see more of. If you keep them happy then they will continue to visit your site on a regular basis.
Once you start to see a large amount of people visiting your site, it can be time to turn it towards making money. The easiest and most common way of turning your blog towards online income is to use Google Adsense. Its free to sign up and implements well with most blog platforms. Bear in mind though, unless your getting at least 10,000 people a month visiting your site, you may be disapointed with the return from your advertising commissions. If your site is generating over 50,000 hits a month then your well on track to make a significant amount of money online.
So in summary for this part of the post, ONE way to make money online from blogging is to display ads on your blog. The way you get people to your blog to see the ads is to produce excellent content. If you have the content then the people will come. Just remember though, it won’t happy immediately. Most of the top blogs that earn money online from advertising, etc didn’t pop up there overnight. They might have been slogging away for 2 or more years. The thing is, those that have stuck at it, continued to develop and build their readership are now sitting back and enjoying large pay checks each month from the big companies like Google.
Without traffic, you won’t make any money online!
Now, while content is key when running your blog, there is one important rule that you must know if you want to make money online.
TRAFFIC IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN MAKE MONEY ONLINE!
Even if you have the best written articles, beautiful design, fonts, colours, images, the whole shooting match, without traffic you will never make money online. Its as simple as that.
Why is traffic so important? Well, in order to generate any money online, you need traffic to your site. If you triple your traffic, chances are you will probably triple your income! The two are very closely related. The best thing about making money online is that even if you don’t write the best articles or have the prettiest blog, if you generate some huge traffic then you will still see income running to your bank account. Sure these other things are important to maximise your income, so don’t forget them by any means, but they aren’t the be all and end all.
In my honest opinion, building traffic should be your number one priority as far as turning your blog into a money making machine.
It is true to say, that the more traffic you get, the richer you will get. You will discover that as your traffic increases, you will have more money you can invest back into your site, which will in turn generate even more traffic, and so on and so on. With the right knowledge and tech savy-ness, you can soon build a blog that has traffic increasing on a regular basis. Which in turn brings in more income, which in turn brings in even more traffic!
I don’t have time to cover how you can increase your traffic specifically, but stay tuned as it will be in a post in the near future.
In the mean time, continue to make money online!
How you can make money online with affiliate programs.
When I first started out a few years ago in search of the best way to create an online income, passively and one that could replace a full time salary, I came across a number of network marketing companies. Each of these companies was promising the latest and greatest compensation plan, excellent conversions and just an average product. I was desperate to find a way out, to make money online and be able to work from home. After signing up to several of these companies I was always disapointed. I was always to sign up a few people but the momentem stopped soon after it began. I couldn’t rely on any of them to make a consistent monthly income. It was hard work.
The turning point was when I found a particular company that changed the way network marketing operated. Previously I had been calling leads on the phone, following up each lead and getting rejection after rejection. This new company, promised to change all of that. Automatic email responders and a dedicated call centre were only the start of it. I signed up after hours of research, testimonials and some personal friends who were having success with the program. I was impressed with the product. It is a course designed for people to learn at home all about money, finance, investing and basic business knowledge not to mention online access to forums, trained experts in law, finance and tax, and most of all a fantastic compensation plan that would knock the industry over.
The best part of signing up was the immediate training I recieved. I was learning directly from experts who had made a considerable amount of money in network marketing, and had produced training material for everyone else to replicate. So what business am I talking about? Well its Carbon Copy Pro. I signed up to this program in February 2008, and it has continued to grow from strength to strength. This is the perfect system for someone who is new to network marketing, and by simply working through the training material, can easily replicate a system that can earn you an almost unlimited income. Of course, like anything the more work you put into it, the better off your going to be. I’ve sponsored people in Carbon Copy Pro and they were really excited when they signed up, but once they realised it wasn’t a get rich quick scheme (they don’t exist in my opinion) and they actually had to learn things, they simply let it fall by the wayside.
So, my recommendation, if your looking for a network marketing company to make money online, then look into Carbon Copy Pro. If you need help or have questions, feel free to contact me directly and Id be happy to answer them. Coming back to the title of this post, is it possible to make money online with affiliate programs? Well I believe yes, and there are countless people making decent money by doing this. A great example is ebooks. The thing I like about a network marketing company is that once you sell it to someone, there are usually a couple of levels invovled, where you can continue to earn commissions from sales made by the person you referred. This essentially means you have all of your team working for you, earning you small or large amounts of money. Like all income generating options, I like to diversify and not rely on one particular area. So its great to combine a network marketing company with other sources of income such as advertising revenue or product sales.
