Isn’t that the dream of most of the western world today. To be able to tell the boss that they quit, ship on out and work from home. All the while receiving the same benefits of salary, health insurance, social life and job satisfaction.
Working from home is a very commonly searched term on the internet these days, and the primary root of this in my opinion is that most people are stuck in a job that they don’t enjoy. Often people just head through college, get a job that suits their qualifications and start the dreaded 9-5 cycle. The job isn’t merely something that they want to do, but ends up controlling their lives and they are forced to do it. They find that more time is spent in the office and with the world colleagues than at home with their loved ones and time for rest and relaxation are out the window. Those few hours of self activities are a luxury. Why is this? Why do our jobs impact us so much on how we live our lives? My guess is that due to our society people want everything now. The car, the house, the clothes, the holidays etc etc etc. We spend up big, more than our salaries can allow and suddenly we are over our heads in debt. Even if we wanted to quit our job we know that we can’t as we need it to survive. We get into a position that hands over the control to our boss, rather than remaining in our hands.
So back to my point earlier, people are searching for a better alternative. They want to have that ‘dream’ of waking up at 9:30am, working for a few hours in their PJs on the computer, heading out with the kids, or down the street for coffee and brunch, all the while still getting paid. For some this is certainly a reality. Maybe thanks to some smart property investments, or an idea they sold for millions of dollars to a large multi-national such as Google. But for others working from home can still be just as hard. I mean, all your really doing is transferring the problem onto yourself to make money to pay the bills, keep the kids in that private school and your wife in those designer brand clothing. Unless you can come up with some fantastic idea then it will be a struggle and you may never be able to quit your job.
Not to put a negative slant on this, but it is extrememly hard for people to work from home unless they are committed, work hard and build up a business concept. Often this can be done while your still employed. While your still working, of an evening perhaps, start thinking of ways and areas that you have significant strengths that you can transfer to your own business. Maybe your really good at selling and in which case there are many companies that would suit, such as Freelife International. Or perhaps you want to start a blog to make money online.
Whatever it is, work at it, and maybe one day you can quit your job, pack your bags and work from home, spending the time how you want, answering only to yourself and family and take some control on your life. Plus, if your currently in a stressful position, working from home in your PJs may be just what the doctor ordered!
